Are you looking for an internship or job? Want to learn
about career fairs and connect with employers? Use
your Boise State login information to activate your
Handshake account. (New students - your account will
be created the day after you register for classes.)

Schedule an appointment with a career counselor
Find and RSVP for upcoming career fairs,
employer information sessions, and workshops

message employers of interest

Build your Handshake profile: Handshake will give
you personalized job recommendations based
on your profle. A completed profle will help
employers reach out to you with event invitations
and job opportunities. Employers may also look at
your profle after you apply for one of their jobs.
Search strategically: Filters will help you
customize and narrow down your job search. You
can use flters and keywords to fnd jobs based on
a variety of factors including location, industry, job
type, and more.
Save jobs and follow employers: In addition to
making it easy to fnd things again later, saving
jobs and following employers trains Handshake’s
algorithms on what you’re interested in so you’re
shown more relevant jobs, events, and information.
You will also get reminders about application
deadlines, and receive notifcations about new
jobs and events from your favorite employers.
Message employers before applying: Many
employers allow you to directly message them
through Handshake. Messaging the employer
before applying gives you a chance to introduce
yourself and ask questions about the job which will
help you better focus your application materials
and be a stronger candidate. Few students do this,
so you’ll defnitely stand out!
Find and attend local and national career events:
Navigate to either the “events” or “fairs” sections
in Handshake. Here, you can fnd on-campus and
online events to help you network and learn about
diferent companies and industries.
