QUESTIONS TO ASK
Preparing Questions to Ask the Interviewer
The interview is almost over. You’ve answered their questions confdently, showcased your skills, and expressed
your enthusiasm for the position. But there’s one last question, and it can make or break the interview: “Do you
have any questions for us?”
Why Asking Questions Matters
•

You’re also interviewing them: If they ofer you
the position, you’ll have to make a decision about
whether this is the right company and opportunity
for you. The interview process is also for YOU
to get the information you need to make that
decision. This is your chance to clarify details
about the role, company culture, or future growth
opportunities.
It demonstrates genuine interest: Asking
thoughtful questions shows you’ve done your
research and are genuinely interested in the
opportunity. If you don’t ask questions, the
interviewer will assume you’re not that serious.
It shows initiative: Well-crafted questions show
the interviewer that if they hire you, you’ll take
the same initiative to seek out the information you
need to do the job.
Crafting Great Questions

Avoid basic questions: Skip questions easily
answered online or with a quick “yes” or “no.”
Consider what’s important to you: What will make
you successful and happy in a position? Knowing
what you need to assess in the interview is a great
starting point when brainstorming questions.
Prepare questions in advance: Prepare at least
3 - 5 questions. It’s helpful to have extras because
some may get answered before you ask.
Don’t ask about: Save questions about things like
pay, benefts, and time of for after you receive
a job ofer (unless the interviewer brings it up).
Once you’ve received an ofer, these things may be
negotiable at certain companies.
