WORKING ON CAMPUS
More Than Just a Job
Every year, over 2000 students work in an
on-campus job. These jobs provide more than just
the convenience of working on campus. They provide
opportunities to develop career skills, explore
interest areas, and get connected to resources, in an
environment that is supportive of your academic and
career success.
Where do I find the jobs?
Most on-campus student jobs will be posted on
Handshake. Once you’ve logged in and navigated
to the Jobs section, use the On-Campus flter found
under “all flters.” If you’re looking for something
specifc and you don’t see it posted, contact that
department directly to fnd out if and when they are
hiring for the job you’re interested in.
What does it mean if a job says “WorkStudy only?”
You may see this in the title of some jobs. Work-Study
is the name of a specifc fnancial aid award, and
you are only eligible to apply for these jobs if you
have received a Work-Study award as part of your
fnancial aid package. If you are unsure if you have a
Work-Study award, or want to be considered for one,
contact the Financial Aid ofce. Don’t worry if you
don’t have a Work-Study award; there are plenty of
on-campus jobs that don’t require it!
The Part-Time Job Fair, which happens during Bronco
Welcome in August and again in April, is a great
opportunity to meet on-campus employers and get
more information about open positions.
When are they posted?
Each Boise State department does their own hiring,
and this happens at diferent times for diferent
departments. Most hiring occurs near the start of each
semester. Because job postings are coming and going
all the time, make sure to check Handshake at least
once a week so you don’t miss anything.
How do I apply?
There is no standard application for on-campus jobs;
each job has its own application procedure. Carefully
read and follow the application instructions in the job
description. If it asks you to apply through Handshake,
do so by clicking the Apply button, then attaching the
documents requested in the job description.

New to Boise State and interested in working on campus? Here are some additional things to know.

Your Handshake account will be created automatically the day after you register for classes - you
don't need to sign up for an account. Once your account is created, you will be able to log in with
your Boise State credentials.

Don't wait to apply! Some departments post their fall jobs as early as July. Most departments will
do video interviews if you're not yet living in the area.
•
Career Services can help with your job search, application materials, and interview prep. We're
open all summer and do remote appointments, so you can meet with us wherever you are.
